about

This was recorded in August of 1983 at what we think is Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, CA. We think this was Jerry's last show with the band in that era. If anyone has clearer memories, please let us know.

Bruce Neher's notes:
Back in mid 2013 I received a cassette tape from Jerry Chamberlain with a nice sounding recording of this concert. At the time no one seemed to know exactly when or where it was recorded, the best guess was at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, sometime in 1983. Unfortunately there were some issues, the beginning of “As The World Turns” was cut off, the middle of “Memory Lane” was gone and “Sanctuary” (which was thought to be the last song of the set) was incomplete. Recently I received a new version of this show that solves all of those issues and adds “Walls Of Doubt” as the last song of the show (unfortunately, it is incomplete, but doesn’t fade out until most of the song has been played). The sound quality from these newly sourced files was a bit better than the original cassette I had, and my mastering and restoration skills and equipment has certainly improved over the past 7 years, so I decided to start from scratch and completely redo this show. One big issue with this new batch of files was that all the talking from Terry Taylor between the songs was missing. I was able to go back to the original version and extract those segments, update them to match the sound of this new version and seamlessly insert them back into the recording. Overall, this is a wonderful update to what was already one of the best sounding bootlegs from this era of the band. With the exception of “I Love You #19” (which has been completely reworked and reimagined) all of the songs from this show are from the first 3 albums of the Alarma Chronicles and the band is at their prime. Highly recommended!
